About Cherry Studio
Cherry Studio is an open-source desktop "AI workstation" for Windows, macOS and Linux. You add API keys for the model providers you use, then work with all of them from one app.
Key features
- Multi-model chat: OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Azure and any OpenAI-, Gemini- or Anthropic-compatible service, plus local models. You can send one question to several models and compare the answers.
- Assistants and agents: preset assistants for translation, coding and writing. Agents can read files, run commands and complete multi-step tasks, and can run on a schedule.
- MCP support for connecting external tools such as databases, Notion and GitHub.
- Local knowledge base: import PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT and Markdown files, URLs and sitemaps.
- Extras: an image-generation panel, a translation panel, a Markdown notes editor and a quick assistant you can call up from any app.
- Your data: local storage with local, WebDAV and scheduled backups.
License and cost
The Community Edition is free and licensed under AGPL-3.0. A separate commercial license is available. You pay only for the model APIs you connect. The project is developed in China, and its docs and community are mainly in Chinese, but the app supports English.
