About RoamDial
RoamDial is a browser-based player for live radio from around the world. Press play and it drops you onto a random station, so you hear whatever someone in another city is broadcasting right now: local news, ads, talk or music. It runs in any desktop or mobile browser, with no app to install.
Who it's for
People who want background audio that isn't the same playlist again, language learners who want to hear real local radio, and anyone curious about what other places sound like.
Key features
- Next station: hop to another random station; upcoming stations are buffered so switching is fast.
- Sky view: stations are laid out by genre as a 3D field of particles you can drag around, plus a globe view.
- Filters: listen only to higher bitrates (128, 192 or 320 kbps and up) or keep only the languages you want.
- Song info: shows the current track when the station provides it; otherwise you can try "Identify this song". Some stations also support synced lyrics.
- Save and share: favourite stations and songs, and share any station with a link. If one stream fails, it tries the station's next one.
- English and Chinese interface.
Pricing and privacy
As of October 2026 RoamDial is free, with no accounts and no ads. Saved stations live only in your browser's local storage. It collects anonymous usage and error data and uses Google Analytics.
Limitations
The station directory comes from the community-run Radio Browser database, so coverage and location data are only as good as that source, and some stations may be offline. It is not a music service: you hear whatever each station is airing. Song identification has a daily limit, and some overseas streams may be slow or unreachable from mainland China.
Alternatives
Radio Garden lets you spin a globe to pick live stations by place rather than by chance.
